Balmy Britain to get hotter than Greece as climate picks up quicker than fireworks
Remember, remember to sunbathe in November – balmy Britain is set to be hotter than Greece this week.
Punters heading out to enjoy bonfires and fireworks tomorrow for Guy Fawkes Night have been told they can leave hats and scarves at home.
After a 17C start to the week, the Met Office has forecast temperatures of up to 20C in London on Wednesday, which would break the 19.8C date record for November 6.

A forecaster said: “Temperatures will be warmer than normal, feeling pleasant in brighter spells.”
Bookmakers Coral cut odds from 5/1 to 6/4 on highs beating November’s overall temperature record of 22.4C, set on November 1, 2015, in Trawsgoed in Wales.
Coral spokesman John Hill said: “The odds say the mercury will shoot up faster than fireworks.”
If we hit 20C highs that would be 7C higher than early November’s usual 13C – and hotter than 19C in Athens. Even northern England is forecast up to 18C.
Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna said: “A very mild airstream this week will see highs not far from date temperature records.”
There will be some sunny spells and often cloudy conditions, with dry skies and no rain for most amid high pressure.
And the mainly dry conditions are set to last into next week.
A BBC Weather spokesperson added: “Temperatures will rise from Tuesday as southerly winds develop, becoming warm with temperatures in the high teens.”
