Jimmy White recoiled in horror at snooker rival’s ‘silent however lethal’ Crucible tactic
In a revelation that’s sure to raise a stink, Stuart Bingham has admitted to a gassy faux pas that left snooker legend Jimmy White more than a little taken aback.
The 2015 world champion confessed to a mid-match emission that caught White, aka ‘The Whirlwind’, completely off guard. The incident occurred during their game, and it seems Bingham’s flatulent slip was noticed by many in the crowd, not just White.
Unabashed, Bingham recounted the windy tale on The Ball Run podcast, saying: “I remember at the Crucible, my first time after I beat Hendry I played Jimmy and I farted! I think the front two rows got the whiff of it.”
Bingham added: “Eirian Williams, he was reffing. I remember going back to my chair, I farted, played a shot and it was foul and a miss. I stood back to the chair and I saw Jimmy just move away from the chair.
“He looked at me and said, ‘was that you? ‘ and I went, ‘oh, I’m sorry.’ Then the ref caught it and he moved to the other side. One of those silent but deadly ones!”

Their memorable encounter at the Crucible took place in the last 16 of the 2000 World Championship, where White emerged victorious over Bingham with a score of 13-9. At the time, White had been a pro for two decades, while Bingham was still making his mark after turning professional in 1995, reports the Mirror.
Nevertheless, the rising star seemed at ease delivering powerful shots around the green felt in front of one of snooker’s most esteemed figures. Players are perfectly entitled to request loo breaks between frames, but when nature calls, one must answer.
Presently ranked 25th in the world, Bingham is striving to climb the rankings following a last-16 departure at the Northern Ireland Open last week. He was disappointed to suffer a 4-3 defeat against Shaun Murphy, especially considering he had a 3-1 lead at one stage. However, he remains optimistic that his performance will eventually yield results.
