At the last moment he manages to pull himself up with the vehicle just inches from crushing him.

The car crashes into the wall, causing the man to slip before he eases himself down to sit on the rear window.

He looks around helplessly with it appearing he won’t be able to escape. 

But three Good Samaritans come to his rescue by easing a blanket through the metal railings from the first floor to the man below. 

It billows in the wind as man makes a grab for it. Another male throws down a second blanket and they manage to pull him to the dry land above. 

They give him a welcoming hug and a pat on the back as they share his relief that he is now safe in heartwarming scenes. 

The footage, taken on Tuesday, October 29, was shared on X with the words: ‘This scene from Valencia’s October 29 disaster is beyond a movie. 

‘A man hanging on the wall is on the edge of the flood. A car pushed by the current is going to crush him. From the first floor someone throws a blanket. He climbs to safety.’

One person says the video looks like it is ‘literally filmed straight from a horror movie’. 

Another added: ‘Tis the loving celebratory pats on his back from a presumed stranger that makes my day.’

While a third said it was an ‘incredible story of human bravery and kindness’. 

‘In that moment of crisis, the power of community and quick thinking saved a life,’ they wrote.

Devastating floods in the region this week have killed more than 200 people.

Almost all the deaths have been in the Valencia region, where thousands of security and emergency services frantically cleared debris and mud in the search for bodies.

Describing ‘the worst natural disaster in the recent history of our country,’ Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said it was the second deadliest flood in Europe this century.

The storm that sparked the floods on Tuesday formed as cold air moved over the warm waters of the Mediterranean and is common for this time of year.

But scientists warn climate change driven by human activity is increasing the ferocity, length and frequency of such extreme weather events.
