Missing Brit misplaced in Tenerife is lastly discovered after 4 days as household share reduction
A British man who went missing in Tenerife has been found after he went missing for four days.
Dad-of-three Kris Finney went to the Spanish island last week but was not heard from for several days, leaving his family “sick” with worry. Aunt Debbie Kenyon told the BBC: “We are so relieved. We were sick with worry. He told me his phone had broken and he had no money or way of getting in touch with us.” The last Kris’ family had heard from him was on Thursday (October 31) afternoon when he contacted his mum to say he had arrived.
He was due to meet up with friends, but his whereabouts had suddenly become unknown.
He was due to stay at a hotel in Armeñime, in the island’s south, but he was last seen in the Playa de las Americas resort.
The 31-year-old’s family took to sharing details of his last known location on the Facebook page Missing Persons Tenerife. The Foreign Office (FCDO) had said it was “supporting” the missing Lancashire man’s family during the search for him.
Debbie added: “I spoke to him and he sounded a bit worse for wear through tiredness.
“Apparently he had been wandering around as his phone had broken and he had all his money and details on it… It is such a relief that he has been located. A woman shopkeeper found him and took him in. We’re so happy.”
Fears during the time Kris was missing were heightened following the disappearance of teen Jay Slater earlier this year. The 19-year-old from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, attended the NRG music festival with two friends before his disappearance.
His last known location had been the Rural de Teno Park in the north of the Canary Island, which was about an 11-hour walk from his accommodation. He had travelled to an Airbnb in Masca after a night out.
A post-mortem examination found he died of traumatic head injuries, consistent with a fall from height on June 17. The Spanish Civil Guard said Jay could have fallen in the steep and inaccessible area where he was discovered.
