This date night time spot is getting a makeover for Christmas – and you’ll see it tonight
Christmas is right around the corner – but you’ll want to make sure you walk around this one for the festive season.
If you’ve ever been around the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street, you might be looking for a quick out. Do you go hide in one of the many coffee shops or chance feeling less overstimulated in the gigantic Primark? Tough choice.
But, if you’re heading to the capital this Christmas time then you’ll want to make sure you find the right date night spot. Nothing is worse than your romantic spark falling flat to an overpriced and overrated bar or activity.

But, from Thursday 7 November, you can go gawk at one of London’s brightest festive spectacles – and all for free. Carnaby Street is just around the corner from the insanity of Oxford Street, and they have their very own lights switch on that will set off the festive season in style.
Instead of taking your date to the incredibly crammed Oxford Street lights switch on, if you head towards Liberty London and then turn left and take the right corner – you’ll end up on Carnaby Street.
If you haven’t heard of it before, then it’s a long street full of shops, pubs and bars – and certainly no annoying candy stores that haunt the roads around the corner.
What is being penned as a ‘first-of-its-kind’ approach to ‘lights in London’, hence why the new theme is penned as ‘Into The Lights’. It’s of course vague, so you’ll probably want to go see yourself – and while you’re at it you can visit this bonkers time warp bar that we reviewed., named The Little Violet Door.
Plus, it’s free. And if you can get anything for free in London then take it – you need to a big wallet to impress your date with this one. Previous themes have been Bohemian Rhapsody and Carnaby x Project Zero – which was a nod to ocean conservation.
Regardless, the festive lights always make for a good back drop for a picture of you and your beau that you can post to Instagram.
You can see the Carnaby Street lights switch on from 17:45 on November 7.
