Tesco buyers fume as Christmas supply chaos goes on – ‘I’m reserving with Asda’
Tesco customers are continuing to rage over the chaotic Christmas delivery slot booking system. Just days after the Daily Star reported how customers were being forced into hour-long queues only to find that they couldn’t book past December 9, it now appears as if many are giving up altogether.
Every year, Tesco launches its online booking slots for Christmas deliveries, with them selling out in pretty quick fashion. But it appears that this year is becoming more of a hassle for shoppers than normal, with social media filled with complaints and gripes over it.
And now on a Tesco shoppers Facebook group, many are claiming they’re giving up altogether and booking slots with rival supermarkets instead. One wrote: “I’ve booked one with Asda, it’s annoying having to do it there as I only use Tesco usually, but needs must!”
And a second raged: “I have been up since 6am trying to get a delivery slot for xmas, finally got through, clicked on delivery and its just been sitting there for an hour thinking about it but not taking to the page to book a slot – anyone else having trouble?” A third posted: “I was on it yesterday at 6am, took about 45 mins to get out of the queue.”
Although not providing a direct quote, Tesco assured the Daily Star that there are still plenty of slots available for both Home Delivery and Click + Collect customers over the Christmas period, including in the period leading up to Christmas Day.
They also urged shoppers to book a Click+Collect slot instead which have “consistently strong availability”.
And while more slots are released “regularly,” it does seems as though some shoppers aren’t finding any issues, as one posted: “I managed to book yesterday morning ok, took a while to get my slot but I got what I needed.”
And another wrote: “The slots opened at 6am and I got my turn in the queue at about 6.35 am which was not too bad.”
