Alan Shearer’s glam daughter, Hollie, wows followers with engagement snaps to rugby star

Alan Shearer’s daughter Hollie Shearer has announced she is engaged to England rugby union international Joe Marchant.

The 28-year-old rugby star popped the question to the daughter of the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer in Paris. Taking to Instagram to announce the news, Hollie wrote: “BEST DAY EVER!! Got to say yes to my favourite person.”

She posted two snaps, one of her and Marchant smiling whilst showing off her engagement ring in front of the Eiffel Tower, and another of just the ring with the Paris landmark in the background.

Following the announcement of their engagement, Shearer and Marchant’s comments section was flooded with well wishers. Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer posted four heart eye emojis with three applause emoji’s after that.

Another well wisher, model Beth Dolling, added: “awwww sooooo amazing!!!!! Congrats you two!!! Best news ever.” Her brother, Will Shearer, wrote: “Naaaaa gunna cry.”

A third said: “Very many congratulations and lots of love to you both xxx” A fourth, England international and Saracens star Maro Itoje commented: “Congratulations”, whilst Louis Lynagh, Marchant’s former teammate at Harlequins also said: “Congratulations!!” England fly-half Marcus Smith added: Congratulations buzzing for you both.”

The pair first confirmed their romance back in April 2022 after having been dating four months prior. Earlier this year, Marchant opted to leave Premiership side Harlequins, deciding instead to join Top 14 side Stade Francais.

He featured for the England side which finished third at the World Cup in France last year, but is ineligible to play for Steve Borthwick’s side right now due to selection criteria ruling out overseas players.

And it seems as though Marchant has also received the seal of approval from father Alan. When asked about his daughter’s blossoming romance with the ex-Harlequins centre, Shearer said: “I’m just glad it’s not a footballer.”
