I did my ex-husband’s new spouse’s hair and make-up on their marriage ceremony day – my buddy’s could not consider it however I feel it is sensible
An ex -wife has shared how she has put her past relationship behind her so much that she decided to do her former husband’s new wife’s wedding makeup.
Clare Wood, 45, and Bonny Heatherington, 43, have formed a friendship over the past few years of sharing parenting responsibilities alongside husband, Dan.
Clare even agreed to do Bonny’s hair and makeup on her wedding day, a task most brides wouldn’t trust the groom’s ex to do.
‘It wouldn’t be right if I said it wasn’t weird because it is, but really, it was a privilege that I could be a part of that day with my children too,’ the makeup artist said.
From Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, UK, Clare told how she split up with her husband, Dan, in 2019 due to the pair not being happy for some time.

After Dan proposed, he and Bonny started to plan their wedding with the bride immediately jumping to ask Clare to be her makeup artist for the day
However, she explained that they made it work and went on to be very good friends, prioritising looking after their children between them.
In 2020, after meeting each other on a dating app, Bonny and Dan started their relationship.
Six months into their relationship, Bonny finally had the chance to meet Clare, something that was very important to both of them.
The pair told how they got on as if they’d known each other forever right from the beginning.

Delighted to be a part of it, the pair set up a trial run before the big day, ending with Bonny being over the moon with Clare’s work.
On the wedding day, the makeup artist got straight to work to make sure Bonny ‘felt like a princess’ which she indeed did with plenty of guests complimenting her.

‘I wasn’t nervous at all as I knew (Clare would) have to sit in the church feeling responsible if it went wrong!’ Bonny laughed
The pair agreed that their situation can seem odd to outsiders but the situation felt incredibly normal to them after being friends for so long.
‘Dan and I always had open communication about if we were to move on and who we want each other to meet and introduce to the children,’ Clare said.
‘I appreciate that a lot of relationships go sour when they split up, but it’s not like that. So I know that we’re a little bit unique.
‘I didn’t feel jealous over Bonny when I met her. She’s amazing. Bonny and Dan are made for each other.
‘We were in the pub talking about her wedding plans with Dan and she said I’d really love it if you did my makeup and hair for my wedding day.’
‘None of my friends or anyone I told could believe it, but I think it’s brilliant.’
Bonny recalled meeting Clare six months after she started dating Dan.
‘I met Clare for the first time with their children, which was really nice actually because it took us a while to get to that point. It must have been about six months into our relationship when we decided to meet each other’s children.
‘Clare and I kind of started chatting and got to know each other a little bit as well, which was important for me as well.
‘I always mentioned her doing my wedding makeup but hadn’t asked her properly until closer to the time, and thankfully she agreed.
‘I felt like an absolute princess with the finished result.
‘She did a beautiful job because she does a beautiful job every time, that’s her job. But on the wedding day, so many people commented on my makeup and so many people who weren’t even there commented on the photos of my makeup.
