Ariana Grande appears painfully skinny in plunging costume at Wicked premiere after sparking concern over weight reduction

Ariana Grande looked notably thin during a promotional photo shoot for Wicked, following growing concerns about her appearance at the film’s recent LA premiere.

The pop icon’s slim figure was front and center in the shoot, just ahead of the highly anticipated musical’s debut at Mexico City’s Auditorio Nacional on Monday.

Wearing a strapless gown with a plunging neckline, her sternum was visible as her décolletage remained bare.

At the event, she posed alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey, who wrapped their arms around her petite frame.

The photo call follows concern over her red carpet appearance at the Los Angeles screening, where she showcased her physique in a gingham-patterned, 50s-inspired swing dress. 

Fans have also been expressing worries about her weight and appearance on social media in recent weeks. 

‘She’s skin and bones,’ one person replied to a video of her arriving at the LA event.

‘Ariana looks unhealthily skinny,’ agreed another user, while a third asked, ‘Has Ariana always been this damn thin?’

‘I love Ariana and I don’t think people should comment on other people’s bodies at all, but there’s no way you can look at her and not think she’s not healthy,’ said someone else. ‘I really hope she’s OK.’

‘I know she has been slim all her life but seeing her now is worrying, she is so small,’ a fifth tweet read.

Another person posted snaps of Ariana posing with Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo and sarcastically quipped that they were having a ‘skinny off,’ which sparked a slew of other tweets analyzing their bodies. 

‘No hate, just [asking]… were they starving during the filming process of what?’ one user wrote.

‘They look hungry,’ another said, while a third added, ‘Get these ladies a hamburger.’

‘Are they OK?’ someone else simply asked, while a different user chimed in with, ‘Were they passing out Ozempic shots on set?’

‘These two, particularly Ariana, look miserably thin,’ another person claimed.

‘Ariana and Cynthia look scarily thin and unhealthy… how can someone not worry after seeing them?’ a different tweet read. 

Others, however, were quick to stick up for the ladies, with many pointing out that Ariana has always been a naturally thin woman.

‘Truth is, Ariana’s bone structure has always been like this,’ one defender wrote.

‘The amount of body shaming in the replies is disgusting,’ scathed another user. ‘There’s a difference between genuine concern and blatant body shaming. Both ladies look stunning.’ 

‘WTF are these comments. Y’all don’t have anything better to do? You just have all the time in the world to be nasty to these two beautiful women?’ someone else said.

‘This is the world we live in, gross. Anyway, love them and so happy for them.’ 

‘Leave these women alone,’ urged a different person, while another confessed, ‘As a person who looks like this [and is] healthy these comments hurt me a little, not gonna lie.’

Back in April 2023, the Thank U, Next songstress clapped back at bodyshamers and insisted that she was healthier than ever after pictures comparing her weight over the years went viral.

‘I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body [that’s] seen and paid such close attention to,’ she said. 

‘I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what. 

‘If you think you’re saying something good or well-intentioned, whatever it is, healthy or unhealthy, big or small, this or that, sexy or not sexy, we should really work towards not doing that as much.’

The star claimed that the version of her that people were comparing her to was the ‘unhealthiest version of her body.’

‘There are many different kinds of beautiful. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful,’ she stated. 

‘And personally for me, the body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body.’ 

She explained that she was ‘on a lot of anti-depressants’ and ‘drinking on them,’ which is usually not recommended because of dangerous interactions. 

Ariana also admitted that she was ‘eating poorly and at the lowest point of her life when she looked’ the way her fans considered her healthiest.

‘I know I shouldn’t have to explain that, but I do feel like maybe having an openness or vulnerability, something good might come from it,’ she added. ‘Healthy can look different.’

She also reminded her supporters that they’re not actually friends with her, and therefore they don’t know details about her physical or mental health. 

‘You never know what someone is going through so even if you’re coming from a loving place or a caring place, that person probably is working on it or has a support system that they’re working on it with,’ she concluded.
