Tories get a Badenoch bounce! Poll reveals Conservatives leapfrogging Labour to go two factors forward after new chief took cost
The Tories have enjoyed a ‘Badenoch bounce’ after installing their new leader, according to a poll today.
The party leapfrogged Labour to take a two-point advantage since Kemi Badenoch was handed the top job.
Research by More in Common found the Conservatives were up three points since November 1 – the day before the leadership result was announced – on 29 per cent support.
Meanwhile Labour was down one on 27 per cent when the survey was conducted yesterday. The Lib Dems had dipped three points to 11 per cent, and Referendum UK was up one on 19 per cent backing.
The boost for the Tories comes after Ms Badenoch was seen as putting in a strong performance at her first PMQs against Keir Starmer last week.

In a brighter spot for Sir Keir his personal ratings have ticked up slightly from their previously apocalyptic levels.
He has a net approval of minus 25, an improvement from the minus 30 he scored a week before.
After defeating Robert Jenrick in the ballot of Tory member, Ms Badenoch has appointed her rival as shadow justice secretary.
Other former leadership contenders Mel Stride and Priti Patel have also been given top roles, as shadow chancellor and shadow foreign secretary respectively.
However, there are already hints of tensions with Mr Jenrick, who has been repeating his calls for the UK to leave the European Convention on Human Rights.
Ms Badenoch went on the attack at PMQs by slamming Sir Keir, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and other senior Labour figures for previous jibes at Donald Trump.
She insisted the PM must apologise and invite Mr Trump to visit the UK and address both Houses of Parliament in the wake of his bombshell US election win.
