Friends involved as Britney Spears rekindles relationship with musician son Jayden, 18
Britney Spears‘ newly-rekindled relationship with her youngest son, Jayden, has raised questions over his ‘motivation,’ years after the singer was left ‘devastated’ by his public criticism of her.
The pop superstar, 42, had reportedly not seen her boys Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden, 18, for at least a year before they moved to Hawaii with their dad Kevin Federline, 46, last August.
Now, sources have confirmed that the aspiring music producer reached out to his mother to initiate their recent reunion, two years after breaking his silence on their fractured relationship.
But those close to Britney are ‘cautiously optimistic,’ and have questioned Jayden’s timing, just weeks before her child support payments to Kevin will officially end.
‘Jayden just turned 18 two months ago, and not long after, he reached out to Britney, saying he missed her and felt she had shown she was doing better,’ a source told DailyMail.com. ‘Everyone around her is cautiously optimistic.’

Jayden addressed his estrangement from Spears in a 2022 interview with UK broadcaster ITV in which he criticized her online presence and claimed he had been through ’emotional trauma,’ before revealing he wanted to reunite.
‘Yes, Jayden is her baby, but he’s also the one who publicly spoke out against her in that interview, which devastated her. Still, things are going great now, and Britney couldn’t be happier.’
The pair are now said to be connecting over a love of music, as Jayden is aspiring to make his name in music.
‘Jayden is determined to break into the music industry, and Britney is ready to give him every advantage,’ the source continued. ‘She believes he’s incredibly talented, and she takes full credit for his musical abilities.’
Sean turned 19 in September and only two days earlier, his younger brother Jayden celebrated his 18th birthday on September 12.
Kevin was granted custody of their boys by a California court – as Britney struggled with a public breakdown and was later placed under a restrictive conservatorship in 2008.
Court documents show that since 2007 Kevin, who now lives on the island of Oahu in Hawaii with his third wife Victoria Prince, whom he wed in 2013, has received $240,000 per year for the care of Jayden and Sean Preston until 2017 – and then, according to sources, that amount was increased by court order to $480,000 per year.
The performer has been paying child support to her ex, Kevin, for a total of 17 years – with payments amounting to around $5 million.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, a source explained that Jayden had been the one to reach out to his mother and initiate their recently-revealed reunion

‘Now that the child support checks from Britney to Kevin have stopped, she’s making sure Jayden isn’t left without financial support,’ the insider added.
The source made it clear that getting to reunite with her children was all that Britney wants to focus on.
‘Whatever the motivation, Britney knows there’s nothing she wouldn’t do for her boys, and she’s confident in that,’ they said.
‘Jayden now has the key to the music industry, with the money and connections to make his dreams come true.’
A second insider said Britney has been taking things ‘step by step’ with her sons in order to try and repair their broken bond.
‘She is looking to get things back to some normalcy and would love to see if Sean wants to visit soon as well,’ they said. ‘She is taking it step by step though and just enjoying the simple things with Jayden, just hanging out, eating, talking, just getting some good mom time.
‘Day by day is the process as their bond has been broken for so long that she wants to repair what is most important to her, and Jayden seems all for it.’
Reports published by Page Six claimed that Jayden has been ‘back in California’ where Britney lives after relocating to Hawaii last year.
‘[Jayden] reached out to Britney, saying he missed her and felt she had shown she was doing better,’ a source told DailyMail.com. ‘Everyone around her is cautiously optimistic’

It remains unclear if Jayden stayed at his famous mom’s $7.4million estate in Thousand Oaks.
However, the publication noted that that Britney’s eldest son Sean Preston still lives in Hawaii.
Back in June, a source informed DailyMail.com that Britney’s brother Bryan Spears had helped the singer reconnect with her children.
‘Britney has been speaking to, and working on, her relationship with Sean Preston and Jayden for months now,’ the insider said.
‘The boys have so much love for their mother, as she does for them. Things are fully back on track and they are looking forward to the future together.’
They explained that Bryan ‘was instrumental in facilitating their reunion’ and that Britney wanted to ‘keep this quiet’ because she didn’t want it to ‘jeopardize their chances of reconciliation.’
During his ITV interview Jayden opened up about his mother, accusing her of posting shock content on Instagram for ‘attention.’
‘It’s almost as if she has to post something on Instagram to get attention,’ he said. ‘This has gone on for years and years and years. There’s a high chance this is never really gonna stop.’

He also admitted that he believed both his and Sean’s relationships with their mom could be repaired.
‘I 100 percent think this can be fixed,’ he said. ‘It’s just going to take a lot of time and effort,’ he explained at the time. ‘I just want her to get better mentally. When she gets better I really want to see her again.’
He then shared a message to his mother and stated: ‘I love you a lot, I hope for the best for you. Maybe one day we can sit down like this and talk again.’
In September, Britney shocked many fans as she penned a sweet birthday tribute to her sons in an Instagram post uploaded in celebration of them both turning one year older.
In one image Britney could be seen with her two boys when they were younger.
Another picture was taken as the singer stepped out while holding one of her sons.
She wrote: ‘This month is my boys’ birthdays !!! Happy Birthday babies and I hope you get all your wishes and more!!!’
Late last year, Britney released her best-selling memoir, The Woman In Me – which is now being turned into a motion picture, with Universal recently acquiring the rights.
DailyMail.com revealed last month that Britney is working on new music for the movie and reworking old tracks.
