England followers all say the identical factor as Lee Carsley names beginning facet after dropping Kane
England fans have declared Lee Carsley’s side is the “weakest” in years.
The Three Lions are out for revenge against Greece, after they stunned during October’s international break. And ahead of their rematch in Athens, Carsley is without nine stars who dropped out the squad ahead of Thursday’s clash.
Carsley has also taken the bold decision to drop Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane – who himself was furious about the nine players withdrawing from the squad. The resulting starting side has been slammed by England fans on social media.
“That has to be the weakest England line up for years,” one fan fumed. While a second shared: “The FA’s biggest mistake was not appointing Thomas Tuchel immediately. This Lee Carsley experiment has been an absolute disaster and I’ll stand by that even if we win!”
“Its nearly 2025 and Kyle Walker is starting international games of football,” a third said. And another added: “Lee Carsley just playing his old England U21s team for the banter!”
Jordan Pickford was given the nod between the sticks with a back four of Walker, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi and Rico Lewis. Curtis Jones makes his debut in the midfield alongside Jude Bellingham and Conor Gallagher while Anthony Gordon, Noni Madueke and Ollie Watkins round off the side.
“I think England comes before anything,” Kane said ahead of the game England comes before club, it is the most important thing as a professional footballer. Gareth was hot on that and he wasn’t afraid to make decisions if that started to drift from certain players.”
When asked if he believed that might have drifted this week, Kane added: “It’s a shame this week, obviously. It’s a tough period of the season and maybe that’s been taken advantage of a little bit.
“I don’t really like it if I’m totally honest. England comes before anything and any club situation.”
