Met Office unleashes three days of snow and ice yellow warnings – is your space listed

The Met Office has unleashed a series of yellow snow and ice weather warnings across the entire UK. With snow and ice set to blanket large parts of the UK as Autumn rapidly becomes an early winter, the experts are warning of the serious dangers this can pose.

Starting from Sunday and focussing mainly on parts of Scotland the warning states: “Showers will turn increasingly wintry through the day with hail, sleet and some snow. Little snow is likely to settle at low levels by day, but through the evening and overnight, 1 to 3 cm may accumulate in some places, whilst 5 to 10 cm is possible on high ground above 300 metres by Monday morning.”

But on Monday, the warnings travel more to the centre of the country, where the Met Office warns: “Spells of rain, sleet and snow are likely during Monday and overnight into Tuesday morning. The most likely scenario is for most of the snow to fall on high ground, with five to 10 cm possible above 300 metres and perhaps as much as 15 to 20 cm above 400 metres. There is a small chance of snow settling at lower levels, where five to 10 cm would prove much more disruptive, but this is very uncertain.

“As rain, sleet and snow clear on Tuesday morning, ice may form on untreated surfaces.”
