Coca-Cola Christmas advert leaves followers ‘heartbroken’ and fuming for 2 causes
This year’s Coca-Cola Christmas advert has has viewers up in arms thanks to a new ‘heartbreaking’ twist.
The drinks giant’s latest instalment marks the first big festive ad of 2024. But this year, the highly anticipated campaign appears to have swapped out a beloved figure for modern technology. The first 15-second clip released by Coca Cola had audiences reeling, due to the ad being made entirely from AI. Not only did the clip decide to ditch humans, but Santa Claus was also nowhere to be seen either.
The lack of jolly old Saint Nick was particularly surprising when considering that Coca-Cola are famous for shaping his image into what we know and love today.
And the big guy’s omission definitely did not go unnoticed and fizzy fans were quick to take their grievances to X, formerly Twitter.
One wrote: “They appear to have eliminated Santa from the adverts.”
Another said: “I don’t care if I sound like a baby or whatever but this is legit heartbreaking. Coca Cola has been the gold standard in branding and advertising for decades. I literally chose a career in marketing cause I was so inspired by stuff like Coke commercials. This f***ing sucks.”
While a third added: “Crazy that this is the company that literally made Santa red because of how iconic their adverts were, now they’re just making slop.”
And a fourth remarked: “Feels painfully ironic that they’re using ‘real magic’ as a slogan while making the fakest, most talentless ad of all time
A Coca-Cola spokesman told The Independent: “Coca-Cola’s exciting venture into AI-generated storytelling demonstrates Coca-Cola’s commitment to embracing innovation, leveraging our collaborations with top creative and technology partners, while staying true to its core values: spreading happiness and creating real magic!”
The full minute-long version of the ad is now available to watch on YouTube, and does feature a brief mention of the man in red. And Mr Claus can be seen walking away from the famous Coca Cola trucks.
