Woman providing £250 to anybody prepared to embellish her home for Christmas
With Christmas around the corner, many people are seeking out help with festive tasks – and there seems to be no shortage of those wanting to do them.
Local services marketplace, Airtasker has seen a huge upsurge in sign-ups from people offering their services in a bid to make some extra cash.
The platform saw a 1,710% spike since this October. The data shows that people are getting ready for the season earlier year on year, with a 15% increase in demand for Christmas odd jobs.
Airtasker also saw a 58% rise in electrical tasks year on year and a 45% increase in painting and decorating tasks.
They include a job from Stephanie W from Surrey who has already put her tree up after paying a “tasker” £120 to hang her outside lights.
Danielle B from Cheshire wants to make sure her house is decorated to the nines this year and is offering £250 to anyone up for the challenge.
Meanwhile, Jordan T is looking to make Christmas Day as smooth as possible, offering £100 for hospitality and waiting staff to help with his family Christmas dinner.
Taskers are skilled workers in their own fields. Airtasker gives them the platform to respond to jobs people want doing after declaring their budget.
Harry Knott, 23, from South London, has been completing tasks in his spare time to help save up for Christmas.
One included waking up bright and early to get in a queue for Hailey Bieber’s pop-up shop where he got paid £180 for four hours’ work.
Zoe P, 28, from West London, wanted to get some Christmas presents from the pop up in London but couldn’t attend herself.
Harry K, from Wandsworth was accepted to complete the task having a string of five star reviews on his profile since signing up to the marketplace in May this year.
Harry said “When I saw the task and how local it was to me, it was a no brainer! It was very different to tasks I’ve done previously such as rubbish removal and furniture assembly, but that’s the great thing about Airtasker, you can get any task done, and it has given me opportunities to make money to save up for things like Christmas.”
Tim Fung, the Founder and CEO of Airtasker said: “It’s great to see a rise in Brits using our marketplace as the festive season approaches.
“In the run-up to Christmas, we notice a rise in tasks for things like sourcing gifts, delivering Christmas trees, putting up Christmas decorations inside and out of the house, wrapping gifts and so on.
“Taskers can earn thousands on Christmas tasks amongst others, so it’s a great time for people who have some time on their hands and want to use it to make some extra cash”.
