Ruben Amorim to axe Man Utd flop Antony as he makes wonderkid no1 switch goal
Manchester United will listen to offers for Brazilian flop Antony in the January transfer window.
And United boss Ruben Amorim has made Portuguese sensation Geovany Quenda his No.1 choice to replace Antony in what will be a new-look team at Old Trafford. United chiefs are keen to off-load Antony – and would be willing to sell him to the highest bidder – or loan him out elsewhere – in the middle of the season.
The winger joined United from Ajax in 2022 for £81.3m, but has never made an impact. The 24-year-old has scored just 12 goals in 61 starts, and gone on to be labelled one of the worst signings in United’s history.
Despite United’s woeful start to this season, Antony has made just five appearances in all competitions and found himself frozen out by Erik ten Hag before the Dutchman was sacked.
Ten Hag questioned the £200,000-a-week star’s attitude in training, while United sources claim he has become a disruptive influence in and around the squad.
United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to get Antony off the wage bill – and will sanction a move for Quenda next summer. Quenda has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Europe since being promoted to the Sporting Lisbon side by former manager Amorim.
The 17-year-old has produced a number of stunning performances, and just earned his first call-up to the Portugal senior squad. Amorim is a huge admirer of the versatile winger, and believes he is more than capable of being a huge success at United.

Quenda has just appointed Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to represent him. Amorim, meanwhile, took his first training session today (Monday, November 18) at United’s Carrington HQ ahead of his opening game at Ipswich Town this weekend.
The Portuguese coach, who secured a work visa last week, only had a skeleton squad to work with which included those who have not been away on international duty.
The others players who have been representing their respective countries will report for club duty later this week, leaving him little time to prepare for the trip to Portman Road on Sunday, November 24.
