Mike Tyson learns new boxing world rating after Jake Paul defeat in controversial battle
Boxing legend Mike Tyson has shockingly been ranked at a measly 309 in the BoxRec heavyweight listings after his recent loss to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
‘Iron Mike’ made an explosive comeback to the ring on Friday night to face off against the internet sensation. It was Tyson’s first pro fight since his defeat by ex-Irish pugilist Kevin McBride back in 2005.
But in his heavyweight clash with ‘The Problem Child’, Tyson was outclassed from the get-go. Although he avoided a knockout, the 58-year-old was still trumped on points.
Post-fight, Tyson took to Twitter, saying: “This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.
“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”

Tyson’s shock defeat has plummeted him to 309th in the latest heavyweight rankings, a whopping 183 spots below YouTube sensation-turned-boxer Paul.
The American is now just three places above Terrell Jamal Woods, a 35-year-old with a less than stellar record of 29-62, who’s managed only one win in his last 15 bouts, reports the Mirror. Meanwhile, fighters like Peter ‘The Problem’ Naylor are soaring above Tyson in the ranks.
On the flip side, young gun Paul is riding high at 126th globally after his Texas triumph. Post-fight, reflecting on whether he eased up during the bout, Paul admitted: “Yeah, definitely, definitely a bit. I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want [to hurt him].
“I wanted to give the fans a show, but I didn’t want to hurt somebody that didn’t need to be hurt.”
