Eight folks rushed to hospital after ‘inhaling fumes’ at Norfolk chemical manufacturing facility
Eight people have been rushed to hospital after feeling unwell having inhaled fumes at a chemical factory.
Emergency services were called to Easy Cleaning Solutions, in Thetford, Norfolk at around 8.15am on Tuesday.
Around 20 people were assessed by paramedics at the bleach and disinfectant factory on an industrial site.
Seven women and one man were reportedly rushed to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds.
They have since been discharged.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said there were four ambulances, four paramedic cars and three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles.
The factory – previously known as Jeyes – was also evacuated five years ago after a fire involving chemicals broke out.
Easy Cleaning Solutions makes a range of chemical and cleaning products, such as bleach, and employs more than 200 people.

A Norfolk Police spokesperson said: ‘We were called at 8.35am today (November 19) to assist ambulance crews at a commercial premises on Brunel Way, Thetford, following reports of people feeling unwell after inhaling fumes.
‘Eight people were taken to hospital for further treatment.’
A spokesperson for the West Suffolk Foundation Trust said: ‘Today, we cared for eight patients who arrived at the West Suffolk Hospital following an incident in Thetford, who have now all been discharged.
‘We thank our emergency department colleagues and public sector partners, particularly the East of England Ambulance Service, for their fast response which ensured that these patients were seen as quickly as possible.’
