Elon Musk’s X platform sues streaming web site Twitch after ‘shedding out on billions’
Elon Musk’s X is suing streaming website Twitch for allegedly withholding ads on the social media platform.
In August 2024 Musk filed a lawsuit against members of the Global Alliance of Responsible Media claiming they worked together to boycott the platform he very publicly bought in 2022. The lawsuit alleges companies in the alliance – brands including YouTube, Meta and Google – banded together to “withhold billions of dollars in advertising revenue” from the platform formerly known as Twitter.
Now the Amazon-owned company Twitch has been added to the list of defendants in the ongoing lawsuit. Business Insider reports Twitch illegally withheld ads from Musk’s X and have not purchased ads on the platform in the US. Neither company has issued a public statement about the claims.

It comes after Elon Musk was spotted giggling at memes earlier this week at a UFC fight in New York, before getting a telling-off from Donald Trump.
The tech mogul rocked up to the UFC 309 scrap at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden, rubbing shoulders with the president-elect, a host of star-studded supporters and fresh cabinet picks.
Spotted in the throng were Robert F Kennedy Jr and Tulsi Gabbard, not to mention Vivek Ramaswamy, whom Trump has tapped to co-pilot the spanking new Department of Government Efficiency alongside Musk. Avid UFC fan Trump was parked between UFC chief Dana White and Musk, who was nabbed on film flicking through his phone and having a giggle.
“Elon Musk laughing it up, probably at a meme on X,” quipped the Donald J. Trump News handle, noting: ” Donald Trump points towards the fight to get Elon to pay attention to UFC 309.”
A video showcasing the Tesla bigwig gazing fixedly at something while sandwiched between Trump and rockstar Kid Rock surfaced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, captioned: “Elon controlling things with his mind.”
