Warning over World Darts Championship tickets as demand soars resulting from ‘Luke Littler impact’

Darts fans have been warned not to buy world championship tickets from touts as demand rockets due to the `Luke Littler effect’.

Tickets for the annual end of the year showdown at London’s Alexandra Palace which normally cost just £30 are being advertised for more than £300 on secondary selling websites.

But organisers say fans who buy them could be turned away.

Littler’s exploits at last year’s tournament – when he reached the final aged 16 – have turned it into a sell-out.

The teen sensation has already landed 10 titles in his first year as a professional and is among the favourites to lift his first world crown.

But Darts Corner, one of the sport’s top retailers, has warned fans of the danger of breaking the bank to watch the action which starts next month (dec).

A spokesman said: “Tickets obtained through unofficial channels, including touts and third-party resale websites, may be invalidated potentially denying fans entry to the event.

“Purchasing from unauthorised sources not only exposes fans to inflated prices but also increases the likelihood of receiving counterfeit or cancelled tickets.”

The body warns even fans who buy legitimate tickets – which range from £30 to £75 per session – could end up forking out £5,000 to attend the entire tournament.
