Aliens ‘exist within the multiverse’ like each new superhero movie, says skilled

The secret to making contact with extraterrestrial life is not where wee thought it was, says a scientist, who says aliens are most likely in a multiverse living alongside ours

Alien life is likely out there but we’re looking in the wrong places, claim some scientists.

In fact, a new research paper has suggested that there are other universes that have more optimal conditions to start life. Other life being in parallel universes – or the so-called ‘multiverse’ – perhaps explains why no other life form has yet made contact with Earth. Once scientists can understand these strange far-away worlds, the better chance they have to potentially open up and communicate with them.

The latest study focuses on the universe’s “dark energy.” This is not a new phenomenon, as the energy is considered to be a proposed form of energy that affects the universe on the largest scales. Scientists believe it is what expands the universe, and the presence of it elsewhere suggests there could be extraterrestrial life.

A team from Durham University led by Daniele Sorini released a new paper published in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. There, they looked into the “dark energy” and what it could mean for alien life.

“Understanding dark energy and the impact on our universe is one of the biggest challenges in cosmology and fundamental physics,” Sorini said. “The parameters that govern our universe, including the density of dark energy, could explain our own existence.”

While initially scientists look at where alien life could form in this Milky Way, Sorini and his team reframed the question and suggested that aliens in parallel universes would make more sense. Some universes would have a more optimal density of dark energy. The energy currently makes up around 70% of the universe.

The team also discovered that “even a significantly higher dark energy density would still be compatible with life, suggesting we may not live in the most likely of universes.”

They found that a universe where 27% of ordinary matter turned into stars would be most likely to allow for alien life to develop. This is compared to our own, which is just 23%.

Sorini thinks life could be out there – just in a different place science previously believed it to be.

However, time is considered as one dimension, so there are no parallel universes as such. Instead, there are so many sequential universes which scientists call multiverses. It is thought that’s where the aliens are potentially hiding, in a universe alongside our own.
