Pep Guardiola mocked with savage chant by Tottenham followers as Man City in disarray
Pep Guardiola was mocked by Tottenham supporters as his Manchester City side were torn to pieces just days after he signed a new contract to remain at the club.
Spurs stunned the champions by racing into a two-goal lead before the break at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to a brace from James Maddison. The visitors took the lead against the run of play in the 13th minute when Dejan Kulusevski crossed for the England star to score.
Then in the 20th minute the same man doubled Spurs’ lead after his team forced City into a mistake, winning the ball with an aggressive press, before Maddison found Son Heung-min, who returned it to him in the box, before he clipped it past the home team’s goalkeeper Ederson.

Shortly after the interval, Pedro Porro made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute to send the away support into raptures and City staring down the barrel of a fifth defeat in a row in all competitions – the first time in his career that Guardiola has overseen such a losing streak.
In the immediate aftermath of Porro’s goal, Spurs fans could be heard chanting en masse: “You’re getting sacked in the morning! Sacked in the morning! You’re getting sacked in the morning!”

While it’s safe to say the most decorated manager in world football will not be handed his P45 anytime soon, Guardiola is feeling the pressure after a series of devastating defeats in the Carabao Cup, Premier League and Champions League.
His team have fallen five points behind arch-rivals Liverpool in the title race, with Arne Slot’s Reds knowing they can extend their lead at the top of the table to eight points over the champions with a win away at Southampton on Sunday.
That could potentially mean City travelling to Anfield next weekend knowing that a loss would see them slip 11 points behind Liverpool – an unthinkable prospect at the start of the season.
