Nanny in California caught on digital camera abusing ‘helpless two-day-old child’ as mother and father converse out

Video footage has revealed the chilling moment a nanny in California was caught allegedly abusing a helpless two-day-old baby.

The parents of the newborn have revealed their two-day-old daughter appeared to be brutally abused by a trusted nanny just hours after coming home from hospital.

The Bay Area parents, identified only as ‘D’ and ‘T’, were left devastated after reviewing baby monitor footage showing their newborn daughter, ‘Baby H’, being violently shaken, struck and thrown across the room, they revealed in an ABC7 exclusive.

The full extent of the abuse is too graphic to be shown to the public.

‘It’s definitely horrifying for any parent and family to go through,’ the father told the outlet.

‘We all thought we could trust her. Never imagined something like this could happen,’ he added.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe described the case as extraordinarily serious.

‘What struck me overwhelmingly as soon as I read the case was the age of the victim. That’s what’s so unusual for us,’ he told ABC7.

Wagstaffe warned the alleged abuser could face serious prison time.

‘If we can convict them, for me, prison is the only answer for someone who would do something such as this repeatedly – not one time in anger or loss of self-control, but repeated,’ Wagstaffe said.

‘If the evidence supports it, this person would be going to prison for double-digit years, easily.’

The nanny, who was hired through a reference on social media, has not been identified or charged yet.

The parents said that she seemed ‘legit’ from their phone call before hiring her.

‘From the phone call we had with her, it sounded very legit, and she seemed like a good nanny,’ the father told the outlet.

‘Of course, we interviewed the nanny as well,’ he said.

But they noticed ‘aggressive behavior’ and after firing her, they reviewed the footage when they discovered the shocking acts of abuse.

‘Of course we feel guilty as parents,’ the father said.

‘My goal is to warn parents about this nanny. I don’t want any family, baby or mom to experience this again,’ the child’s mother added.
