Everything we find out about Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future as he faces rumoured suitors Real

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool is still uncertain as he prepares to face one of his rumoured suitors Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The 26-year-old Liverpudlian has played a huge part in Liverpool’s success over the last nine years but his latest deal is set to expire in June. The likelihood of lucrative offers from abroad puts the player and the Reds in an awkward position.

One club who have reportedly made him a top target is Real. The Reds host the defending champions tonight, but Trent is only fit for the bench having not played since sustaining an injury against Aston Villa.

It will give him time to absorb the atmosphere and consider whether he should remain loyal to his boyhood club or pursue a new challenge at the end of the season, having already won every domestic trophy on offer in England.

In a recent interview, the progressive right-back confessed that his main motivation right now is to win trophies. There was doubt in the summer whether Liverpool would be in a winning position under new manager Arne Slot, but their incredible start to the season has proven otherwise.

The Reds are prepared to put up a fight for their star man by making him one of the highest-paid players in the club’s history, and his enjoyment under Slot so far could influence his decision.

Liverpool also have contract negotiations with Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to contend with, so it’s set to be a huge few weeks ahead. However, Trent is in a unique position as an academy graduate and a local lad.

He has a deep connection with the fanbase and has in the past spoken about one day becoming captain.

“There is nowhere else I’d rather be than Liverpool. Somewhere I want to stay for the rest of my career is Liverpool,” Alexander-Arnold declared.

“It’s what I’ve always dreamed of. Liverpool are special. It’s completely down to the fans. Whether we are winning or losing we always have their love. I want to become captain one day.”

Supporters remain hopeful that he will follow through on his promise and commit his future by signing a long term deal.
