Sky Sports followers suppose they’re ‘hallucinating’ as Paul Merson seems on sudden present
Football fans have joked they’re “hallucinating” as Paul Merson appeared on an unexpected show.
Merson, 56, left fans scratching their heads as he rocked up on Sky Sports’ coverage of the Chicago Bears’ clash with the Detroit Lions. Merse was even given the illustrious task of cutting the Thanksgiving turkey during the NFL broadcast.
However, his appearance on the show, certainly raised some eyebrows from the football public. One fan took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to post: “Am I hallucinating or is Paul Merson on Sky’s NFL coverage?”

Merson revealed his love for American sports on the show: “You know what I love more than anything is the play-offs. I love the play-offs. I like all the American sports – I like my baseball, my ice hockey and the basketball.
“But what I love about this is it isn’t best of seven, best of five, it’s you go home. Detroit [Lions] can win their next lot of games, get to the play-offs, and one bad with a few interceptions and you go home.
“It’s not you can lose three games on the trot and you’ve still got four games – I don’t like that!”
