Boy electrocuted and set on hearth driving tractor ‘died for couple of minutes’ earlier than amputation

A young lad working on a farm suffered a life-changing accident which left him dead for a few minutes before he came back to life.

Braycin Parrish was electrocuted while driving his tractor. The 17-year-old was harvesting peanuts, a job which he had been learning for years. However, during the freak accident his vehicle came into contact with an electrical line, which gave him a huge shock and caused the tractor go up in flames. He was near his boss, who promptly called emergency services.

Braycin died for a few minutes, according to his boss, before coming back to life. Later on, doctors discovered third-degree burns covering over 60% of his body.

“I went and got on the tractor and went to dump it in the semi-trailer,” Braycin told KWTX while still in hospital. “I guess there was a high line above it and I went to dump it over and the buggy caught on fire and caught the tires on fire.

‘I got out and was going to unhook the buggy from the tractor and it was under electricity and I touched it and so it lit me up.”

Braycin’s boss, currently unnamed, was nearby when the accident happened. Upon hearing a commotion, he headed over to find the teenager face down on the floor and surrounded by flames.

He called an ambulance and gave the lad CPR. Once that had been dealt with, he phoned Braycin’s father and let him know what was going on.

By the time he got to the scene, Braycin was breathing again. “He was dead,” the father, Blain, said. “For how many minutes? Only God knows. You hear about it and see it on TV and stuff, but it’s a whole different thing when it’s your kid laying there.”

Back at a burn centre at Parkland Health in Dallas, doctors discovered horrendous burns which left his skin burnt to the bone. In order to save his life, doctors amputated Braycin’s limb.

He was unconcious for around seven days, but eventually came around. His family believes his recovery to be a miracle, with doctors saying they haven’t seen burns so bad.

Despite the awful ordeal, Braycin is keen to get back to work, saying: “I may have to change the way I do it or it may be a little slower, but I’ll get it done and I’ll learn how to make it faster if I need to.”
