Tesco warning as customers solely have till right now to say £18million-worth reductions

Tesco customers have been given a final warning to spend £18million-worth of Clubcard vouchers before they expire at midnight tonight. The supermarket giant alerted its 20 million Clubcard holders earlier this month that if the vouchers, first issued in November 2022, are not used by the end of today, they will be lost forever.

These vouchers can be spent in Tesco stores nationwide and online, offering savings on your grocery shop or fuel for your car. They can also be exchanged for discounts on your Tesco mobile bill.

Additionally, points can be used with one of Tesco’s more than 100 reward partners including Disney+, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, Pizza Express, Legoland, Hotels.com and Zizzi. If you opt to use them with a rewards partner, your points’ value doubles, meaning 500 points equate to £5 in-store but £10 when spent with a rewards partner.

It comes after a Tesco shopper was branded the “dumbest customer” after making a huge mistake at a self-checkout till. Taking to Reddit to tell of the mad story, someone claiming to be a member of staff in a Tesco store told how a woman tried to take a parcel to a till… which led to chaos ensuing. You’ve only got until midnight today to take advantage of the vouchers

You can check your Clubcard points and vouchers via Tesco’s Clubcard and grocery app or online. To redeem your voucher, either print them at home and scan them at the checkout or scan the voucher on your app, reports Mirror.

Clubcard members accumulate points when they shop at Tesco, and there are several ways to do this. By accumulating Clubcard points, you can snag some vouchers, but the magic number to remember is 150 – that’s your ticket to a £1.50 voucher.

The clever bit? Vouchers are good for two years, which means those expiring this month were popped into your account back in February 2022. But bear in mind, there are some no-go zones where you can’t earn points: forget tobacco-related products, lottery tickets, stamps, prescription meds, bubba milk, Tesco and third-party gift cards, saving stamps, Paypoint, and certain Tesco Bank buys.

Looking to prolong the life of your Tesco vouchers? UK money guru Martin Lewis has come up with a nifty little “hack” to get you an extra two years on your vouchers. Just make a teeny purchase on Tesco’s Clubcard Rewards webpage – it’s got to be online as in-store or other Tesco sites won’t do the trick.

Here’s the cool part: Convert just 50p worth of Clubcard points and you could dine out at Zizzi, Cafe Rouge, or Bella Italia with a £1 voucher. If you only spend a fragment of a meatier £5 voucher, say 50p, you’ll see 450 points (hello, £4.50!) boomerang back into your Clubcard treasure chest.

You can get your expired Clubcard points refunded and reissued as fresh vouchers valid for up to two years when you receive your next batch. But Money Saving Expert has a heads-up for you – you’ll need to do this for each voucher individually, so “weigh up” if it’s worth the hassle.

They say: “If you have a £10 voucher it could be worth it. If you’ve got a handful of £1 vouchers, maybe less so.”
