Snack like a celeb! We attempt A-listers’ weirdest meals selections, from Amanda Holden’s hard-boiled eggs to Selena Gomez’s spicy popcorn – but it surely was Beyonce’s deal with of alternative that left us gagging…

Celebrities are well-known for their weird – and often unhealthy – diets. Beyonce famously drank lemon juice and cayenne pepper to shrink down for Dream Girls while Dwayne Johnson ate seven meals a day for Hercules.

But when they’re not dieting for a role – many celebs have shared their love of quirky treats.

Amanda Holden recently raised eyebrows after she showed herself tucking into hard-boiled eggs topped with Marmite, while Dua Lipa started a trend after revealing that she enjoys her Diet Coke with jalapenos and pickle juice.

Elsewhere, Selena Gomez said she is partial to drowning her popcorn in Tabasco sauce, while Dove Cameron dips her chocolate brownies in ranch dressing.

So what happened when MailOnline put these snacks to the tests? And which A-listers choice left many of our journalists on the verge of throwing up and needing a sick bucket?

Amanda Holden’s hard boiled eggs with Marmite

WHAT IS IT?

Amanda Holden, 53, filmed herself pouring Marmite onto hard-boiled eggs earlier this month.

‘I don’t understand why everyone thinks this is a gross thing to do. This is my favourite thing to do,’ she said. 

MailOnline’s verdict: You either love it of hate it!

Audience reporter Zac Campbell said it was ‘really strong,’ adding ‘I don’t think I’ll be going back to that one in a hurry’.

Trainee reporter Freya Barnes was not a fan and said:’Eurgggh, the end taste is actually so grim.’

However, video journalists Alexis Pivin and Amogh George gave it a thumbs up and it was a ‘good snack’.

Showbiz reporter Caroline Peacock said that Amanda’s hard-boiled egg was not the worst thing she has tried. 

Beyoncé’s banana with ketchup

WHAT IS IT?  

When Beyonce was pregnant with Blue Ivy in 2011, she reportedly had many food cravings for odd snacks. 

NME said she was partial to Bounty ice creams smothered in chilli sauce, Oreo cookies with gherkins and bananas with tomato ketchup.

MailOnline’s Verdict: To the left, to the left (and into the bin!) 

Showbiz reporter Caroline ranked it a ‘zero out of 10’ and said was shocked to hear that Beyoncé was the one who is said to have eaten this meal. 

Zac said: ‘I can’t understand why Beyoncé would be imposing that on the world, that is an abomination against all snack foods.’ 

Senior news reporter Tom Cotterill called the concoction ‘disgusting’ and ‘absolutely horrific,’ as he gagged on the strange combination. 

Alexis took things one step further and described the mixture as a ‘crime’, adding: ‘I don’t know who would do this.’ 

Trainee reporter Freya Barnes said that the banana and ketchup combination was ‘really bad’ but said that the sensation was bearable towards the end.

Adele’s crisps with Worcester sauce

WHAT IS IT?

Adele may hail from Tottenham but she enjoys putting a Worcestershire delicacy on her Walkers crisps.

The Hello singer likes to drizzle Worcestershire sauce in the sauce packet. It is made from a base of vinegar and flavoured with anchovies, molasses, tamarind, onion, garlic and other herbs and spices.

MailOnline’s Verdict: Easy on Me!

Tom didn’t find this too bad and some actually thoroughly enjoyed the salty snack, but he did wonder why the singer did not just opt for Worcestershire sauce flavoured crisps instead.

But Freya said the flavour was too concentrated and said that the condiment should only go on top of cheese on toast.

Amogh said he did not find it bad at all and said he could understand why Adele liked the combination. 

But Caroline was not a fan and said: ‘Okay that’s not nice at all, that’s actually quite disgusting.’ 

Dove Cameron’s Brownies with ranch dressing

WHAT IS IT?

Dove Cameron – who starred in Descendents – likes to tuck into chocolate brownies dipped in ranch dressing.

Ranch is a dip usually used in American cuisine that is made from buttermilk, salt, garlic, onion, mustard and herbs such as parsley and chives. 

‘Don’t judge me! That sounds like the worst, most disgusting thing in the world, but it’s unbelievable. It’s unmatched,’ she told Teen Vogue. 

She likened it to dipping your fries in a milkshake for the sweet and salty sensation.

MailOnline’s verdict: Dove off a cliff!

As soon as Freya put the brownie and ranch sauce in her mouth, she instantly gagged and sarcastically said: ‘Mmm, I love it!

‘Dove Cameron you are sick and twisted,’ she joked. 

Amogh also almost threw up when he first bit into it and vowed to never try that combination again, whereas Caroline called it ‘vile’ and said she wanted to be sick. 

Alexis said it brought back old memories of when he used to visit his grandmother. 

‘That’s nostalgia for me right there, that’s when I went to my grandma’s house and we were punished and she would give us the food that we hated the most,’ he said.

‘It’s exactly the taste, so right now I’m being punished.’  

But Zac found the peculiar snack to be quite nice, and said he would actually try it again in the future. 

Channing Tatum’s peanut butter and jam sandwich with cheetos

WHAT IS IT?

Channing Tatum, who is from Alabama, enjoys the classic American lunch – a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

But he adds his own little twist to it by bulking it out with cheesy Cheetos, which are neon orange cheese puffs that are very popular snack in the US.

He previously revealed that his secret ingredient to the best PB&J sandwich was none other than Cheetos, which are a brand of cheese puff crisps.

MailOnline’s verdict: Blink twice to be saved!

Tom said: ‘The [cheese puffs] make it a bit too dry, nah, a bit too stodgy for me.’ 

Upon taking a bite, Amogh said: ‘I think I judged this choice too quickly, surprisingly it’s not that bad,’ and Caroline agreed, but said she would probably not have it again. 

Zac thought the snack was ‘really good’ and said that the sweetness of the jam was balanced out by the saltiness of the crisps.

Alexis said it was his favourite snack and he enjoyed the different flavours. ‘I respect that choice, Channing Tatum,’ he said.

Freya said it reminded her of eating a charcuterie board as it was a mixture of jams and cheeses.

Selena Gomez’s popcorn with hot sauce

WHAT IS IT?

Selena Gomez revealed popcorn with Tabasco sauce is a family-favourite at her house in an interview with Jimmy Fallon in 2010. 

She then said she sometimes even dips the kernels into pickle juice for an extra spicy and sour kick.

MailOnline’s verdict:

Zac said he was looking forward to trying Selena’s spicy snack, and approved of it, adding that Tabasco popcorn ‘works really well’. 

Amogh also said he ‘really liked’ the hot sauce mixed with the popcorn. Alexis coughed as soon as he took a bite and said: ‘Very spicy, Wooo, that gave a little kick this morning, I feel awake now.’ 

But Caroline’s face dropped as soon as she put a kernel in her mouth and said: ‘That’s just vile. Disgusting.’

Freya also did not think it was too bad, with the clip showing her munching happily on the salty popcorn.
