Anthony Gordon exhibits true colors with celebration in opposition to Arne Slot’s Liverpool

Anthony Gordon had a message for Liverpool fans after he scored against the Reds in a 3-3 nail-biter on Wednesday night.

After an hour of play, Alexander Isak found him in the box, and the Newcastle winger tricked Joe Gomez with a sudden stop and twist before slotting it home to give the Toon Army a 2-1 lead.

He then gestured “talking” with his hands towards the Liverpool fans. This celebration followed a contentious incident involving Virgil Van Dijk earlier in the match.

With Newcastle leading 1-0 thanks to Isak, Gordon almost capitalised on Gomez’s errant back pass to double the lead – only to be spectacularly thwarted by Caoimhin Kelleher. Van Dijk then collided with Gordon elbow first, causing the 23-year-old to fall to the ground clutching his face.

VAR reviewed the incident but ruled that the Reds captain hadn’t crossed the line. Isak nearly extended the lead to 3-1 with a stunning strike in the 65th minute, but was ruled offside.

Mohamed Salah then put Liverpool ahead with a brilliant brace, seemingly securing victory for the Reds. However, Newcastle managed to claw back a point thanks to Fabian Schar, who equalised from an absurd angle during stoppage-time free kick, reports Liverpool.com.

Bruno Guimaraes somehow delivered the ball within Schar’s reach with a stunning delivery that just cleared Kelleher’s head. The 32-year -ld Swiss defender then slid it past the far post and into the net.

Liverpool’s transfer interest in Gordon fizzled out last summer and now, ahead of the Wednesday showdown, the England striker has thrown down the gauntlet to the Reds.
