Shaun Murphy claims to have hit nine-darter in sport crossover – however proof says in any other case
Snooker star Shaun Murphy told Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen he’d hit a nine-darter – the evidence says otherwise.
Murphy made the claim after hitting a 147 to become the first sportsperson to achieve perfection at Paddy Power’s perfect challenge on Wednesday (December 4). The Dutchman was quick to call out the snooker star, handing him his darts.
“What happens if I hit a 180 here,” Murphy asked Van Gerwen and Humphries as the Englishman quickly hit back: “I’ll believe you!” Murphy stepped up to the oche: nailed a single 4, missed the board, then even missed sound muffler.

The room erupted with laughter as Murphy put it down to a practice throw before just missing the 20 bed. “Where did you hit this nine-darter, I want to hear the story,” Van Gerwen started, before adding: “Was it 301 or 101?”
“Imagine claiming to have hit a 9 darter then throwing this abomination,” one fan joked. Before he added: “The ‘yeahhhhh’ from MVG after that first dart…he couldn’t wait to pass his darts to Murphy he knew exactly what was coming.”

Murphy had already clashed with Luke Humphries on Wednesday, as the pair disagreed on what is tougher – a 147 break or a nine-darter.
