This is the right arrange for watching TV based on Brits

A recent study of 2,000 adults has revealed that the average person spends eight hours a week glued to their TV.

However, before settling down for a binge-watch, 41% of viewers make sure everything is set up ‘perfectly’ so they don’t have to move until their show or film has ended.

The survey by Onepoll.com found that the ideal distance between the screen and sofa should be four metres, with the perfect room temperature being 19 degrees.

The best time to get comfy on your sofa is 8:08pm, loungewear is the go-to outfit, and sitting upright without a footrest is the favoured position. Viewers also prefer to have doors and curtains fully closed according to the survey. While low lighting as well as solitude is key for 20%.

A spokesperson at DFS, which commissioned the survey to promote its new Cinesound range of cinema sofas, said: “We all have our own ways of watching TV, with personal likes and dislikes when it comes to creating that perfect environment.”

“It’s all subjective, so what works for one person might not suit someone else, but ensuring you have the right set up is important for all TV and movie lovers.”

To enhance their home entertainment experience, 26% like the idea of reclining seats while 23% wouldn’t mind an in-built charger for their phone.

With the ability to create the perfect viewing environment, over half now say they would rather watch movies in the comfort of their own home, than at the cinema.

The survey found Brits enjoy having the ability to pause the TV if they need to. They’re also guaranteed a comfy seat and say being at home is significantly cheaper. Moreover, they don’t have to put up with chatter during the movie or someone’s phone obstructing their view.

A spokesperson for DFS chimed in: “There has been a monumental shift in people’s viewing preferences with the pandemic playing a massive role in that.”

“Although there is something special about watching a film at the cinema, there are also many benefits about watching one in the comfort of your own home.”

“And the environment that you watch it in plays an important part in that too.”
