Daily Star’s Top 20 wrestlers of 2024 from WWE and AEW legend to Britwres standout
The last 12 months have arguably been the best in recent memory for wrestling fans. From Cody Rhodes finishing his story, to Mariah May and Toni Storm having one of the most talked about storylines in women’s wrestling for a generation.
The Daily Star’s top wrestling aficionados have joined forces with the experts at the Eat, Sleep, Suplex, Retweet podcast’s listener’s league to take stock of what’s happened over the year and create our Top 20 best wrestlers of the year.
And for those thinking ‘I bet it’s just a who’s who of WWE and AEW,’ well, you’d be wrong. We’ve included three of the UK’s best talents who have had incredible years, as well as two of the most talked about talents from another rival US-based company.

Our full list also includes one of the most underrated female talents in NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, who has had standout battles with Jordynne Grace, Tatum Paxley, Giulia, Thea Hail and WWE’s Canadian female wrestling legend Natalya.
Another name to look out for is current Progress Wrestling World Champion and Rev Pro Wrestling’s Undisputed British Heavyweight Champion, Luke Jacobs. The 24-year-old Mancunian wrestles far beyond his years, and has had absolute bangers this year against Japanese legend Tomohiro Ishii, Man Like DeReiss and Leon Slater. The future is bright for Jacobs, as it is for all wrestling fans.
But topping our list is the one and only Bryan Danielson. In what is said to be his final year as a full time wrestler, every match Bryan had this year was an absolute banger, and he even held the AEW World Championship before ultimately bowing out last month. Hopefully, it’s not the last we’ll see of Danielson in the squared circle
