Mohamed Salah despatched congratulations as Liverpool ‘renew contract on wages he desires’
Former Egypt player Haytham Farouk has sparked rumours that Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah has finally put pen to paper on a fresh deal with the club.
Salah’s current deal at Anfield is set to run out at the close of this campaign, potentially leaving him up for grabs as a free agent. The world class winger has publicly stated this is his last season at the Premier League giants as thing stand and let slip a fortnight ago that the Liverpool hierarchy hadn’t yet laid a new contract on the table for him.
Despite this, the 32-year-old marvel has continued to shine for Arne Slot‘s league leaders, providing an assist and burying a spot-kick against Manchester City, and following it up with another assist and a brace in the high-octane draw away at Newcastle.

This has prompted a wave of demands from fans for the Reds to meet whatever Salah wants for his contract renewal. Even Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher =- who previously branded the player “selfish” for airing his contract concerns – did a U-turn on his view concerning the ongoing negotiations just this Wednesday night.
It seems like Salah’s wishes might have been accommodated, with Farouk taking to social media to extend his congratulations on the forward supposedly landing a new agreement ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton. Sharing a throwback picture with Salah, Farouk implied Liverpool have met the player’s terms, reports the Mirror.
Celebrating the news, Farouk tweeted: “Congratulations on renewing your contract with the number you like and the period you want. The Egyptian king rules with his own judgments.”
Adding to his credibility, Farouk is not only a well-known pundit for beIN Sports but also shares a bond with Salah. His intriguing tweet came out on December 4, coinciding with Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle.
Following Salah’s stunning brace, manager Slot lavished praise on his star player’s impact. Speaking about Salah’s future at Anfield, Slot is confident the forward will shine on Merseyside for years to come, saying: “We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time.”

Slot added: “He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us. I have seen many games of last season but it is always difficult to judge a player if you are not there. What I did most was [look at] style of play and team performance and not that much the individual performance.”
Slot further explained his impressions of Salah from the preseason. He said: “What I noticed from the start, when he came in [in preseason was] how fit he was, how ready he was to make it a very good season for him. That he led by example from the first day onwards in preseason where so many of his teammates who he usually plays with.”
Recognising Salah’s influence even without his usual squad around, Slot added: “So the international players, were not there and to still be able to work that hard, he did, and train so hard: yeah, and then we all saw the quality in the training sessions. So it’s not a surprising thing for me that he’s done so well until now.”
