Darts star will get knocked out of match then marries associate on stage after ‘loopy’ thought
The dartboard turned into a wedding venue at the WDF Women’s World Championship on Friday.
The Lakeside has witnessed countless unforgettable moments over the years, usually involving sky-high averages and impressive checkouts. This year’s tournament has been no less thrilling, with Paul Lim making it to the semi-finals and Beau Greaves maintaining her winning streak.
However, Friday offered something a bit different, as Amanda Loch tied the knot with her partner on stage. Loch, an English-born player representing Australia, had earlier competed against Finnish star Kirsi Viinikainen in the tournament’s opening round, but was defeated 2-0.

Despite this disappointment, her tournament journey was far from finished, as she and her partner Laurie exchanged vows in front of players, officials, friends, and family on Friday.
“It was crazy. Getting married in England was somewhat planned. We were going to go for it when the feeling was right. We had a few ideas, and a few things fell through,” an elated Loch started, speaking to the WDF, reports the Mirror.
“We saw the lake, and we thought it’d be a lovely backdrop for a wedding. When that didn’t come to fruition, someone suggested the Lakeside stage. We thought ‘we’re crazy, let’s do it!'”
The bride wasn’t the only darts ace gracing the wedding with sporting prowess. Fellow Aussie Peter Machin, who wowed crowds with his journey to the men’s quarter-finals before Shane McGuirk stopped him in his tracks, played the role of best man, as per the Express.

“Peter Machin was always going to be my best man,” Laurie, now hitched to Loch, declared. “I asked him a couple of years ago, and it just happened he was here at the time.”
Laurie couldn’t help but gush about the support: “Everyone here has come together to make it happen for us, and we can’t thank everyone enough,” he said, clearly chuffed. “It’s been fantastic.”
And it’s not just friends and family sending their wishes; the WDF chimed in with a touching plaudit: “All at the WDF congratulate Amanda and Laurie on their special day and wish them all the best for a happy life together.”
