Wayne Rooney’s emotional first phrases to spouse Coleen after I’m A Celeb stint

Coleen Rooney finished runner-up on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! after weeks of not being able to communicate with husband Wayne, but the pair have finally spoken

Footballing legend Wayne Rooney has broken his silence after wife Coleen came second on I’m A Celebrity.

Coleen, 38, had been in the jungle for nearly four weeks, winning the public over with her impressive detective skills – she’s now set to bank millions from lucrative deals. The series finally came to an end on Sunday (December 8), with Coleen finishing in second place behind McFly star Danny Jones.

She may have missed out on being crowned Queen of the Jungle, but the WAG did get a heartfelt message from her hubby Wayne. It’s clear the former United striker had missed his wife while she was Down Under.

In one of her first interviews after leaving the jungle, Coleen spoke to Good Morning Britain about her experience and what she learned from her time in Australia. She then touched on her husband and appeared to get emotional as she spoke about chatting with Wayne for the first time in a month.

“He just said how much he missed me, how proud he was, and he said the support back home has been unbelievable,” Coleen said as she welled up on Monday morning (December 9). “He just can’t wait to see me, and I can’t wait to see him as well.”

Wayne, 39, and Coleen have been together ever since they laid eyes on each other at the age of 16. First meeting in 1998, the pair fell in love, but took their relationship slowly – finally tying the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony in Portofino in Italy a decade later.

Iconic bands, including Westlife and Stereophonics were roped in to perform at the couple’s wedding, which was estimated to have cost at least £5million. Since tying the knot, the couple have welcomed four young boys into the world – Kai, 15; Klay, 11; Kitt, 8 and Cass, aged 6.

Kitt and Cass were lucky enough to head Down Under to welcome their mum out of the jungle, while leaving the older boys back in the UK. When asked why could Kai and Klay not join their brothers down under, Coleen insisted it was important for the pair to focus on their education.

“My two older boys have stayed at home because school is important at this age, and the two younger ones brought work away with them,” she explained. “I can’t wait to get home to the two older ones and Wayne, of course.”

Coleen made history thanks to her stint on the ITV reality show, as she reportedly bagged a whopping £1.5million appearance fee – the highest in the show’s run. Previously, the record had been held by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who bagged £1million for the pleasure of heading into the jungle.
