And speaking about the worst part of the job, she added: “The morning alarms are brutal, and it’s time to have a new adventure – which is the plan for 2025 and beyond.”

Despite leaving the role, she is still committed to the Beeb, saying: “I’m so proud I’ll still be doing lots of that for 5Live Sport, and the BBC, who still bring us together for the big moments better than anyone else.”

BBC 5 Live broadcaster Elecia Hinds wrote: “We’re going to miss you so much! But the sky’s the limit for you! Onwards and upwards x.” Colleague Rachel also shared: “Absolutely gutted you’re going, you’ve been a total joy, always bringing the vibes and the knowledge. We’re going to miss you BIG TIME. Xxxx.”

Katie, who is from Croydon, London, joined the 5 Live Breakfast team in 2017 and has worked on major events like the Women’s World Cup and the Olympics.

She has also been a key voice on The Sports Desk podcast where she has discussed women’s health in sports and she has promised to continue working in the media industry in new ways in 2025.
