Woman dies as emergency companies ‘cordon off Wetherspoons pub’
A woman has died in Edinburgh’s White Lady Wetherspoon pub after cops and ambulances were called to a “medical matter” and the woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene
A woman has died after an incident which saw emergency services reportedly cordon off a Wetherspoons pub.
At around 3.55pm on Friday (December 13), police and paramedics rushed to St John’s Road in Corstorphine, Edinburgh after reports of a medical issue.
Locals reported seeing six police vehicles and two ambulances outside the White Lady pub. A 64-year-old woman was sadly declared dead at the scene shortly after.
It remains unclear whether the woman had been a customer at the pub, but several witnesses reported seeing the pub cordoned off. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, reports Edinburgh Live.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “Around 3.55pm on Friday, 13 December, 2024, we were called to assist with a medical matter in the St John’s Road area of Edinburgh.”
“A 64-year-old woman was pronounced dead a short time later.”
They added, “There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
Speaking at the time, one witness said: “There’s a police cordon stopping people from getting up the stairs to the White Lady. There must be half a dozen police cars and two ambulances.

“It looked as though they were all standing on the outside seating area just off St John’s road. Police and paramedics looked like they were carrying orange Sainsbury bags.
“You could see people standing and looking on who had been inside the pub but no one seems to know what happened.
“Around five paramedics and a bunch of officers are still in the outside seating area now and traffic is slowing as it passes along the road at rush hour.”
