This year’s Strictly final sees Chris McCausland, JB Gill, Sarah Hadland and Tasha Ghouri battling it out to lift this year’s glitterball trophy.

Comedian Chris, who is the first blind contestant in the history of the BBC show, and his partner Dianne Buswell are the runaway favourites to win the competition after wowing the judges with their impressive routines.

The star hasn’t been able to see since his early 20s when he lost his sight due to a hereditary condition called retinitis pigmentosa and Chris has been left close to tears on numerous occasions after rapturous applause from the audience.

Last week he and Dianne scored 36 out of 40 for their Viennese waltz to Metallica track Nothing Else Matters.

Friends of the CBeebies star had come to support him the studio audience at the semi-final, and he admitted he was an ’emotional wreck’ with them there.

He warned Claudia: ‘Don’t get me started, I’m an emotional wreck tonight. I’m telling you.’

He added: ‘You know what you’re doing is big when your really close mates don’t take the mickey out of you.’

Meanwhile, Dianne then made a plea with the public as to why she and Chris should be in the final this week as she insisted she ‘could not be prouder’ of what he has achieved.

She said: ‘I have taught Chris this whole time without a single visual cue. He’s never been able to watch a video back to see whether he’s done a good job

‘He’s never been able to see his competitors, or what the competition is like but he has captured the spirit of this show. I could not be prouder of him.’

Elsewhere JB Gill has had a rollercoaster of a competition after his former partner Amy Dowden was forced to quit the show due to a foot injury.

The singer, who is now dancing with Lauren Oakley, said he was shocked and found it ‘difficult’ when Amy quit the series after collapsing months after she was given the all clear from cancer.

Speaking to MailOnline about her exit he said: ‘Initially I felt like it was a disadvantage, to be honest, because I was very used to dancing and working with Amy.

‘It’s not something that’s ever happened on Strictly Come Dancing before.

‘Having to deal with that was a lot. I was a bit nervous, because people are invested in the partnerships, and that’s what they love about Strictly Come Dancing. And so I didn’t know how that would affect my journey throughout the whole process.’

‘That was a difficult adjustment to make. And I don’t think people understand quite how difficult it is to do partner work with somebody.’

The singer received a never seen before ‘Horwood handshake’ from Craig Revel Horwood as the notoriously hard to please judge rose to his feet to shake the JLS star’s hand.

Copying Paul Hollywood‘s famous ‘Hollywood Handshake’ from Great British Bake Off, Paul himself was seen laughing in the audience as Craig took inspiration from his signature move.

Craig joked: ‘Come to daddy,’ as he called JB over for the handshake before also receiving hugs from fellow judges Motsi Mabuse and Shirley Ballas

The actress, who is the second oldest woman in this year’s competition, said that her partner Vito Coppola‘s early belief in her abilities ‘annoyed’ her as she was adamant she knew her body and what she couldn’t do.

She told MailOnline: ‘It’s made me realize that I have actually put limits on myself.

‘This is quite a common thing when you’re a parent, I think sometimes you put all your energy into other things, and then I think what happens is you put all your belief in other people, and you don’t do it for yourself.’
