Broadcaster Kelly Cates is set to leave Sky Sports to replace Gary Lineker as one of a three-person hosting team at BBC’s Match of the Day

Broadcaster Kelly Cates is set to leave Sky Sports to join a three-person team of Match of the Day presenters – replacing Gary Lineker.

Cates, daughter of Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, is set to move to the BBC at the end of the season, the Daily Mail has reported. It comes after it was confirmed Lineker, 63, will be stepping down as host of the long-running football show.

Bosses at Sky are understood to be saddened by the loss of the 49-year-old Cates, whose smooth presentation of Sky’s Premier League coverage and previous BBC experience seemed to have worked in her favour.
