The UK’s most prolific rapist Reynhard Sinaga has been the target of an attack in prison in what is alleged to be a planned hit by vigiilantes.

Sinaga, 41, was found guilty in January 2020 of carrying out 159 sex attacks on 48 different men after tricking them into taking a date rape drug and is currently serving life with a minimum of 40 years.

The sex attacker is understood to narrowly avoided serious injuries in the attack at HMP Wakefield in July before it was stopped by prison guards.

‘Sinaga is arrogant and universally loathed. He is a clear target in prison because of his depraved crimes,’ a source told the Sun.

‘He was seconds away from extremely serious harm. He is in danger.’

The Indonesian student spent more than a decade drugging and raping men at his flat in Manchester.

He would pose as a ‘Good Samaritan’ to men who had become separated from their friends on nights out in the city.

The sex attacker, who described himself in court as an effeminate gay man, would strike up conversation and invite them to his nearby flat.

Sinaga is currently serving life with a minimum of 40 years.

His victims ranged from 18 to 36 but the average age was 21, Manchester Crown Court was told.

Most were students and some were still at school, including the sixth former whose escape from his clutches led to Sinaga being arrested.

His crimes came to light in June 2017 after his final victim, an 18-year-old rugby player, woke up during the assault and fought off Sinaga.

Sinaga was badly beaten and rushed to hospital, and the police initially arrested the victim on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

However, after investigators examined Sinaga’s iPhone they discovered more than 3 terabytes of videos of his assaults and rapes.

Jack McRae, 32 has been charged with attempted GBH with intent of Sinaga. He has since been moved to Frankland prison in Co Durham.

He is charged with the same offence against child killer rapist Wilbert Dyce at Wakefield in 2023.

McRae is also accused of ABH on lags Sayed Taheri, Patrick Harrington and Andrew Gillis, and assaulting an emergency worker.

Andrew Beadie, now at Long Lartin, Worcs, is jointly charged with the alleged attack on Taheri.

McRae is due before Leeds magistrates on Tuesday.
