Convicted terrorist sues pub landlord for £1,850 as he is ‘scared’ of his signal
A convicted terrorist has told a pub landlord that the sign above his pub makes him feel uncomfortable and ‘incites violence’, the pub landlord calls the claim a complete joke
A convicted terrorist has claimed that a “depiction of a bearded Arab/Turk” on a pub signage in Amersham, Bucks, is “xenophobic, racist and inciting violence to certain people”
Khalid Baqa, 60, has claimed that the sign of the pub named, Saracens head, is racist and wants £1,850 from the landlord which would lead to his take down of 30 more pubs with the same name.
The publican, Robbie Hayes, 52, has labelled the claim “a complete joke.” and has expressed pride over the history the name of the pub holds.

“This pub has been called the Saracens head for over 500 years,” Robbie told The Sun.
“No one at this pub is racist, we don’t believe the sign is racist and the name is simply historic. We won’t be pushed around and change hundreds of years of history just because some loud mouth wants to cause trouble”
Whilst Baqa claims that he complained to the pub four times the pub staff have no recollection or record of these complaints.
In 2018 Baqa was jailed for a total of four years and eight months for the dissemination of terrorist publications which he admitted to.
The 60-year-old man told The Sun, “I’ve stopped all the terrorist stuff now.”
In light of Baqa’s outrage over the sign he filed a “claim of money” form – an application to county court for a sum of cash a person says they are owed.
On the claimant Baqa has said, “I’ve always been offended by pub names like these but I’ve only very recently discovered how to fight them online.”
Baqa has said that the sign “instilled worry and fear in me since it was clearly xenophobic, racist and inciting violence to certain people. I immediately complained to the pub and requested the signage to be removed.”
The word Saracens broadly means a member of a nomadic people between the deserts of Syria and Arabia and dates back to at least the 5th century.
Over time the word began not just to denote to Arabs but also Muslim people more widely.
The name of the pub, Saracens Head, is said to have ties to the crusades and was seen as a sign of respect for the fighting qualities of the enemy.
