Man Utd’s derby day hero Amad Diallo has the ‘world at his toes’, says team-mate
Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot has hailed Ivorian winger Amad Diallo for his match-winning performance against rivals Manchester City at the Etihad
Diogo Dalot reckons Manchester United sensation Amad Diallo has the footballing world at his feet.
But Dalot has told United’s new hero to do whatever it takes to keep those same feet firmly on the ground. Diallo is riding high following his stunning late winner to sink neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
This comes after he struck another famous winning goal to help United beat bitter rivals Liverpool in the FA Cup at Old Trafford last season. Diallo has shown he can have a massive future at United.
But Dalot has warned the Ivorian winger the challenge facing him now is to produce such brilliance on a consistent basis. Dalot said: “It’s what we want from him. When you’re in such good form, that’s the most important thing – you keep performing.
“It’s the hardest thing at a club like this, being consistent in your performances, so we’re going to help him and we want him to stay at this level. We know he can be a really good player for us, but it’s up to him to be in the right place and keep really humble. And I think he has that ability.”
Dalot, meanwhile, has revealed that new boss Ruben Amorim has told his United stars to be prepared to suffer some more pain before the good times come back. And those who aren’t prepared to do this can leave.
He added: “The message was clear from him from the beginning – if you want to succeed and if you want to thrive, you have to suffer. That’s not just in football, but in life. If you want to have success, you have to work hard and suffer.
“If you want to succeed at this club, you have to suffer – and if you’re ready to do that with us, we’re going to be a good team. If you’re not, there’s no space for you.”
