Darts star hits the ‘Cold Palmer’ celebration after nailing a 180 however loses the leg
Cole Palmer is taking over the darts as Rashad Sweeting borrowed his ‘Cold’ celebration during the Paddy Power Darts World Championship on Tuesday evening
Cole Palmer has been taking over the Premier League – and he’s now made it to the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship.
Rashad Sweeting cemented himself into darting folklore on Tuesday evening (December 17) as he came up against Jeffrey de Graaf in the first round. Sweeting stormed into a one set lead – after he had missed the stage when walking out.
De Graaf, however, clawed himself back – but Sweeting still had one treat for the crowd at the Alexandra Palace. After nailing two T20’s, while on 194, logic would have seen him switch to try and leave a favourable double.
The Candy Man had no intention to do that, instead he looked at the crowd and with a smile on his face hit T20 once more to nail a 180. The crowd went wild and Sweeting performed the ‘Cold Palmer’ celebration to the delight of the Ally Pally.
Sweeting, however, had left himself on D7, and after trying to split to D4 he lost the leg as De Graaf took out 104.
“Who cares if it leaves double seven… An Ally Pally legend is born in Rashad Sweeting,” one fan joked. While a second shared: “Give Sweeting a Premier League spot for pure entertainment!”
“Rashad Sweeting, the debutant all the way from the Bahamas, might be the most Box Office player going. Missed the stage after his walk-on, hits a 180 on 194 to leave D7 + does the ‘Cold Palmer’ celebration for the crowd,” a third joked.
“I genuinely think in 10-13 years the Cold Palmer cele will be as culturally significant and widespread as CR7s Siu,” a fourth predicted. And another added: “He’s the champion in my eyes after hitting a Cold Palmer after a 180 my champion!”
