A six-year old has tragically died the day after hitting his head at school and going home as normal. Muhammed Yaseen Uddin, a schoolboy at Marlborough Primary School in Small Heath, Birmingham, died in his sleep on December 10.

His mother later took their son home from school where the family celebrated his sister’s birthday. Later that evening Yaseen vomited however, his family thought it was due to some medicine he was unable to swallow and after the boy went to bed and slept soundly.

Simriel, Yaseen’s father, said through the night his son slept in his parents bedroom and the boy was sound asleep when his father checked on him at 3am.

The next morning Simriel left for work but rushed home after his wife called him shouting their son’s name over the phone.

Yaseen had not woken and had been rushed to hospital, tragically doctors were unable to save his life. Yassen’s family are now waiting for the outcome of a post-mortem CT scan.

Simriel has fond memories of his son and has said: “He was very energetic and had lots of friends – he was a loving beautiful child. We had a nickname for each other – I would call him Gecko and Sonic and he had me as Catboy from TV PJ Masks.”

“We had brought tickets to go and see the new Sonic film together – we can’t go and see it now.”

Last week Razia Ali, executive headteacher at Marlborough, told BirminghamLive: “Our school community has been left devastated by the tragic passing of one of our wonderful and much-loved pupils. Yaseen was an incredibly helpful, kind and caring pupil who brought a smile to the face of everyone who came across him. I know I speak for everyone when I say he will be deeply missed. All our thoughts and prayers are with Yasin’s family and friends.

“Our dedicated pastoral team is providing full support to all our pupils and colleagues as we come to terms with this very sad loss. We will consider a suitable way to commemorate Yasin at an appropriate time and after discussion with his family.”

Yaseen’s family are currently raising money to build a mosque in Pakistan in memory of their son’s life. Yaseen’s father said his boy was very fond of the country and had been there twice before.

The fundraiser currently sits at over £4,600 and is over half to its £8,000 goal.
