Marcus Rashford ‘lacking’ from Man Utd squad as they journey to London for Carabao Cup
Marcus Rashford wasn’t spotted with the Manchester United squad as they made the journey down to the capital ahead of the Red Devils’ Carabao Cup clash
Marcus Rashford was a notable absentee from Manchester United’s travelling squad on Wednesday (December 18).
The Red Devils packed their bags and headed for the capital where they are due to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup on Thursday (December 19). Ruben Amorim’s side travelled to Stockport train station by coach after gathering at the airport car park.
However, Rashford, according to The Sun, was not accounted for as players boarded the coach. While some players, and Amorim, did drive to the station on their own.
Rashford admitted, to Journalist Henry Winter, that his future wasn’t at Old Trafford. “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps…When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United.
“That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me.”
Rashford added he’d “100 per cent” always be a Red Devil.
It’s rumoured that United could be swayed with a £40million offer for the England ace, as Amorim starts to overhaul his new team, who remain is slumped in 13th place in the Premier League after a disastrous season so far.
Alejandro Garnacho, who was also left out of the squad over the weekend, was spotted with the team. Explaining why he left Rashford and Garnacho out of the squad for their clash against Manchester City, Amorim said: “(It was) selection.
“We try to evaluate everything – training, performance, game performance, engagement with the teammates, push the teammates up.
“Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players, so it was my selection. Simple. I don’t want to send a message (to the dressing room with this). It’s simply an evaluation, and they know it.”
