A top well-being expert has whipped up the perfect recipe for domestic bliss this Yuletide after a study shows nearly HALF of Brits could kick off during Christmas dinner. Psychology guru Dr Eleanor Bryant from the University of Bradford came up with the formula following a survey by Philips—the brains behind the airfryer—which reveals a whopping two in five (42%) family feasts are peppered with squabbles.

The nosh-up nightmares come as many folks struggle to balance rustling up scrumptious yet healthy grub without being enslaved to the stove. Turns out, over a third (35%) of households find mealtimes the ultimate stress-fest, with the average family descending into foodie fracas four times a week!

The top triggers of culinary clashes include who’s on chef duty (77%), who tackles the dreaded washing-up (73%), and techy temptations at the table (69%).

What’s more, nearly 60% of mums and dads reckon they’d let the kids glued to gadgets at the dinner table just to dial down the drama. And with festive tensions simmering, these ingredients could mean a right old family food fight is on the cards this Christmas.

Health and happiness hotshot Dr Bryant chimes in: “For families, the benefits of harmonious meal-times are countless.”

“It’s been shown that children who eat with their families do better academically and socially as well as having a lower risk of developing obesity. But we all know that the stresses and strains of juggling what life throws at us makes this often easier said than done, none more so than at Christmas.”

“So, this formula has been specially developed, in order to help families find meal-time harmony this festive season.”

The formula is comprised of five initial factors, which are each given a score out of ten. To reach a total for meal-time harmony, tastiness (Y) is multiplied by healthiness (H) and divided by cost (C).

This figure is then divided by the time to prepare food (T) is multiplied by the number of people to feed (X) This total is then multiplied by a factor of 10 which represents the ease and speed at which nutritious and tasty meals can be prepared in a Philips airfyer.

The formula is:

(Y * H) / C

————— *AF = festive meal-time harmony

(T * X)

The formula follows the launch of Philips’ first airfryer with built-in steamer – that helps families bring healthy and tasty meals to the table in no time.

The Philips 5000 Series Airfryer and Steamer features two spacious asymmetrical drawers and 12 convenient presets – combining the tenderness of steaming with the satisfying crispiness of air frying at the touch of a button. Sara Vaum, Senior Product Manager at Philips said: “For many families meal-times can be a source of unnecessary stress especially at Christmas”.

“Finding that balance between feeding your loved ones nutritious and tasty meals and the time it takes to prepare them can be tricky.”

“Which is why we’ve enlisted the expert services of Dr. Bryant as we continue to develop new ways to help families achieve better balance in the kitchen.”
