A new study has unveiled the 10 most dangerous Christmas songs to listen to while driving.
The research, by One Sure Insurance, analysed the BPM (beats per minute) of popular Christmas songs to find Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens is the most dangerous Christmas song to play while you are driving.
Based on findings from South China University of Technology which highlighted how fast-paced music can affect a driver’s mental and physical capabilities, the study found Shakin Stevens hits 203 BPM. In second place is Andy Williams It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year at 202 BPM.
Experts at One Sure Insurance are warning Brits should avoid singing Ariana Grande on their winter drives too, with the hit song Santa Tell Me reaching 192 BPM.

The research showed the safest songs to sing while driving this Christmas. In first place is Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree at 67 BPM, with Nat King Cole and Sam Smith also making the top three.

Commenting on the research, a spokesperson at One Sure Insurance explained: “With research showing songs with a BPM over 120 can make drivers more stressed, we are urging drivers to think carefully about the songs they choose to drive home with this Christmas.
“We all love to have a sing along while in the car, but the research shows it is better to stick with songs below a 120 beat per minute if you want to keep yourself and others on the road safe. Our goal is to encourage drivers to be mindful of their playlist choices this winter.”
