Sick twist in crossbow killer case as triple homicide suspect offers plea and faces new cost

A man accused of fatally shooting the wife and daughters of a BBC sports commentator has been further charged with rape.
BBC Five Live racing commentator John Hunt returned home from work on July 9 to his wife Carol Hunt, 61, and two daughters Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, seriously injured. All three of them were later pronounced dead despite the best efforts of medics.
Hertfordshire Police said soon after 6pm the day after that their manhunt for Kyle Clifford, 26, led them to the alleged Bushey crossbow killer hiding and injured in an Enfield cemetery.
And today, in a shocking new twist, Clifford has been charged rape at Cambridge Crown Court. No further details have been given, but it comes after the man had already pleaded not guilty to the murders moments before.
A previous court hearing heard Louise had been found tied up when officers attended the property. Louise and Hannah Hunt had been shot with a crossbow and their mother Carol had been stabbed with a knife and suffered multiple injuries, the court was told.
Mr Hunt and his third daughter Amy previously issued a statement following the incident, which said: “The devastation we are experiencing cannot be put into words.”
Clifford, of Enfield, north London, is charged with three counts of murder, one charge of false imprisonment and two counts of possession of offensive weapons – namely a crossbow and a 10-inch butcher’s knife. The incident happened at the Hunt family home in Bushey, Hertfordshire on July 9.
