Stephen Mulhern suggests new ITV magic present after shouting at viewers member on Royal Variety
Stephen Mulhern has taken to X to ask the public if they would like to see a new magic show on ITV. This comes after his dramatic performance on the Royal Variety which saw him shout at a disrespectful audience member
Stephen Mulhern has popped the question to the public of if they want to see a new magic show on ITV after his eventful magician act on the Royal Variety Performance.
The magician/presenter asked the question on X. He said: “During the Royal Variety Performance, @ AmandaHolden agreed to help me with some magic! She flew, she vanished, and she’s mostly forgiven me.
“You can watch the full act now on @ITVX! What do you think—should magic have its own TV show? I’d love it, but let me know if you would too.”
Stephen, who gave an emotional performance last week as a tribute to his late dad, was met with enthusiasm from his followers.
One wrote: “Definitely have your own show! Maybe include a budding young magician each week? You were amazing last night. .I could see how much it meant to you and so sorry for the loss of your inspirational father.”
Another cheeky X user name-dropped one of Stephen’s TV shows and said: “Definitely! Your act was amazing, and we need more of it on TV, instead of constant game shows (Catchphrase excluded).”
One other comment read: “This act was amazing! I loved it and I never knew you did tricks like this. Is there anything you can’t do !! I’ve always said we need to have a tv magic show with you hosting and doing tricks like Derren Brown. He did a show on channel 5 x.”
The magical presenter had a very dramatic time at last week’s Royal Variety Performance.
Before kicking off his magic act, he told the audience: “I need to show you this, this here is a detonator. Now, let me tell you, when you press this button here, it changes the entire show. It sets off fireworks, it changes the lighting, it changes the music.
“So, we need somebody very responsible to look after this!” Heading off into the crowd, Stephen walked around until he found the perfect candidate to look after the detonator.
Stephen gave the man, whose name was Adam, the device and said: “At any moment you see, in my act, something that you think is funny, I want you to press that red button and then fireworks, the whole thing; we’re going to turn this show into party time, be very careful, be very responsible.”
Stephen said: “Now, I know what you’re thinking. Why would I do such a small trick here at the Royal Albert Hall in front of millions of people watching at home?
“Well, there’s a reason I do this trick, I don’t want to bring the atmosphere down, but my grandad taught me how to do this trick when I was just 11-years-old. Sadly, my grandad passed away two weeks ago.”
Then, in a moment of sheer madness, Adam decided that was the time to push the detonator, causing streamers to go off on stage with bright lights.
Stephen yelled: “Stop this! That was the wrong time my friend! What the hell were you thinking?!”
Stephen ran into the crowd to collect Adam from his seat. He said: “Come with me, no, come with me. Get out, get out. I’m not joking, get out, stay out.” Stephen then put Adam behind the curtain before continuing with his act.
