The most Christmas obsessed city in Britain revealed – the solutions will shock you
The most Christmas obsessed locations in the United Kingdom have been revealed, a study looking at SEO data found both the most and also the least festive locations in the country
A search conducted by the SEO platform, Ahrefs, has revealed what town in the UK is most obsessed with Christmas.
The study looked at 80 Christmas related keywords, such as, “Christmas”, “How many days until Christmas”, “Christmas movies”, “Christmas gift ideas” and “Christmas music.” The number of searches were compared against population sizes of each town to determine what location was the most Christmas obsessed.
Croydon, Manchester and Bolton were placed as the top three – most festive locations in the UK. Bolton claimed the top of the list with 10,967 Christmas related searches per 100,000 people.
Locations that were able to climb their way up into the top three were able to garner a massive nine times more Christmas-related searches than the town at the very bottom of the list.
Tim Soulo, CMO at Ahhref said: “Its fascinating to see how interesting the Christmas season varies from city to city in the UK, with some cities showing comparatively little interest in Christmas, and some showing incredible enthusiasm for all things Christmas-related, from trees and decorations, to cosy Christmas pyjamas and gifts.”
“Search interest can offer us powerful insights into festive trends.”
The other notable towns that were able to claw their way into the top 10 most Christmas obsessed cities were Lincoln at 9,247, Wakefield at 9,192 and Peterborough at 8,813 searches per 100,000.
Hastings came in at a shocking 1,101 searches per 100,000 people – appropriately dubbing it the least festive town in the United Kingdom.
Watford joined Hastings at the bottom of the list only having a measly 1,503 Christmas themed searches per 100,000 with Oxford following close behind only missing the second worst spot by tiny two searches.
Other notable names at the bottom of the list were Woking that brought in a pitiful 1,616 searches, Nottingham at 1,767 and Rotherham at 1,827 searches per 100,000.
